InfiniSpring® has developed a new type of acoustic pipe support designed to isolate noise and vibration transmitted from pipes to surrounding structures. Using our patented InfiniSpring®-springs, this innovative solution enables resilient and flexible pipe and duct installations—while utilizing highly standardized SFS 5377 pipe support components.

One of the most common applications for these supports is in diesel generator installations, where exhaust pipes must meet stringent environmental noise regulations. In these situations, the InfiniSpring®-spring provides a simple and effective method for soundproofing.

From Rigid to Resilient – Upgrading Standardized Supports

Traditionally, exhaust pipes are installed using rigid, standardized supports such as the SFS 5377 Pipe Slide. These conventional supports form stiff connections between the pipe and the surrounding structure, transmitting structure-borne noise directly.

Figure 1. SFS 5377 Pipe Slide

The new InfiniSpring® Pipe Slide retains most of the standard SFS 5377 components, with one key improvement: the vertical U-profiles (U50) have been replaced with specially engineered InfiniSpring®-springs. This upgrade allows for a resilient connection that effectively isolates structure-borne noise.

Sliding vs. Fixed Support – And a New Hybrid Solution

In standard pipe system design, SFS 5377 Pipe Slides can be installed either as fixed or sliding supports. Sliding is typically enabled by mounting the lower L-profiles (L100x50x8) in grooves, allowing movement to accommodate thermal expansion. Fixed supports are achieved by welding the L-profiles in place.

However, InfiniSpring® Pipe Slides are not suitable for fixed support applications, as the spring components are designed for flexibility and cannot bear equivalent longitudinal loads.

To solve this, we have developed a new InfiniSpring® Pipe Support (longitudinally fixed). This design provides a rigid longitudinal connection while maintaining flexibility in all other directions. It enables resilient installation even where a fixed support point is required.

Figure 3. InfiniSpring® Pipe Support (longitudinally fixed) with InfiniSpring®-springs.

A Flexible Future for Pipe System Design

By combining the InfiniSpring® Pipe Slide and the InfiniSpring® Pipe Support (longitudinally fixed), pipe systems can now be installed entirely with resilient supports. These solutions are adaptable to different pipe sizes and custom applications. The improved vibration isolation performance also enables lighter support structures by minimizing dynamic loads—meaning pipe system design can focus on static load requirements alone.

If you’re looking for innovative, efficient, and high-performance pipe or duct support systems, we’re here to help. Contact us today to discuss your needs—we’re happy to provide tailored InfiniSpring® solutions for any project.
